Date: Signature: ڰAPP GROSSMONT COLLEGE PRESIDENTS LEADERSHIP AWARD Background and Purpose The quality of educational opportunities and experiences at ڰAPP is directly related to the quality and commitment of the colleges human resources. The full-time administrative staff and other individuals in leadership positions are critical components of the colleges capability to deliver, with excellence, instructional programming and service to students. It is most important that public recognition of outstanding performance, so vital to the prosperity of the college and the students it serves, occurs on a formal and regular basis. Eligibility The Presidents Leadership Award is designed not only to recognize leadership in service to students, faculty and staff, but also to encourage continuation of that excellence. The nominees, therefore, need not necessarily have a long record of distinguished service, but their service must have been demonstrably outstanding with respect to the evaluation Criteria for Selection of Nominees (hereafter referred to as Criteria), below. Nominations Nominations of full-time administrative staff and other individuals in leadership positions at ڰAPP to be considered for the annual Presidents Leadership Award may be submitted by any member of the college community who has personal and direct knowledge of the nominees work and who can comment on the unique and outstanding characteristics in support of the nominees excellent service to students, faculty and staff. The Nomination Process 1. The President will distribute information and nomination forms for the Presidents Leadership Award. 2. College students, faculty, administration, alumni or other members of the college community having direct knowledge of the nominees exemplary work may initiate nominations. 3. Nominations of full-time administrative staff and other individuals in leadership positions will be submitted to the Presidents Office using the Presidents Leadership Award Nominations Form. Each nomination must be delivered in writing and accompanied by a signed narrative statement supporting the nomination and addressing the applicable portion of the selection Criteria. Nomination packets should include the nomination form, brief supporting statements from faculty, administration, alumni or other members of the community. Candidates will be evaluated most seriously when their nominating documents are specific. The quality and detail of the supporting information and example will be of major significance, not the number of nomination forms submitted for a single individual. 4. The completed nomination form and supporting evidence must be received no later than December 1, 2017. Criteria for Selection of Nominee The primary focus of the award is recognition of leadership in the performance of distinguished service to students, faculty and staff. The following listing encompasses the competencies, supporting skills and attributes of the employee. The comprehensive nature of the listing is meant to assist the nominator in reviewing and developing particular rationale and examples for the nomination form. The nominees will exhibit many of the listed attributes; they need not obviously excel in all of these criteria. It will be the task of the nominator to represent the candidate in as convincing a manner as possible through the supportive detail and specific examples conveyed within the nominators written statement. The nominator is encouraged to present other strong points of leadership which may not be included in the listing which follows: 1. Possesses and exhibits exceptional, positive personal characteristics 2. Exhibits extraordinary professional skill and behavior 3. Communicates effectively 4. Uses highly effective interpersonal skills 5. Leads by example; is able to articulate and implement the vision and mission of the college as exemplified through his/her behavior; and consistently uplifts the college community to a higher level of moral, ethical, and functional efficacy. The Selection Process 1. Presidents Cabinet will review the nominators recommendations. 2. The Presidents Leadership Award Selection Committee will include all members of the Presidents Cabinet. 3. The Cabinet will recommend one recipient for the Presidents Leadership Award to the president of the college. If no nomination is sufficiently supported, the Cabinet may decline to give an award for that year. 4. The president will announce and present the awards at a special recognition ceremony/event in the spring. The Presidents Leadership Award 1. Public recognition at a special recognition event and presentation of individual plaques by the president. 2. Names permanently displayed on a plaque in the library. 3. Published photographs and accomplishments for the media and in college publications.
