Catalog Description This course is designed for the experienced director of childcare and preschool programs. The focus of this class is on human relationships in the professional setting. Included topics are political, fiscal, and working conditions and how they affect turnover and morale of staff; support for families in the program and managing personal growth and development. 4. Course Objectives The student will: a. Develop a vision statement for a childcare or preschool program. b. Identify your management style and formulate strategies to adapt to the organization and individuals. c. Develop family support strategies. d. Identify and analyze the impact of working conditions on program quality. e. Identify the components of the political process as it applies to advocacy for family and childrens services and programs. f. Develop time management and personal growth and development skills. g. Analyze strategies for long range fiscal planning and sustainability of programs. h. Practice skills for personnel management including hiring and firing. 5.
