Catalog Description A continuation of ES 008A emphasizing the development of an intermediate level of indoor cycling. Students will complete physical challenging activities to achieve an intermediate level of cardiorespiratory endurance, muscular strength/endurance, body composition, and flexibility. Intermediate exercise theories will be met through structured indoor cycling methods and practices. Students will also interpret principles of physical fitness and their impact on a life-long health and wellness. 4. Course Objectives The student will: Interpret and relate intermediate functional aspects of physical fitness necessary to maintain the health and vigor of his/her body for a lifetime. Select and apply indoor cycling guidelines through body positions and mechanics. Demonstrate and apply intermediate activities and routines on an indoor cycling bike. Formulate variables which are essential to a healthy lifestyle: muscular strength/endurance, cardiorespiratory endurance, flexibility, nutrition, stress management, and weight management. Illustrate attitudes concerning the positive relationship between lifelong physical fitness and disease prevention and overall health. Employ current health-related physical fitness, develop a personalized intermediate level indoor cycling programs, and measure progress relative to individual goals and standard exercise theories. Assemble methods to increase individual adherence and enjoyment of regular exercise. Compose theories of exercise conditioning and other relevant health-related topics. 5.
