Catalog Description Instruction in advanced techniques, skills, history and rules of baseball. Emphasis will be placed on advanced level individual and team skills, as well as strategy. Students will also learn the fundamentals of physical fitness and their impact on life-long health and wellness. 4. Course Objectives The student will: a. Critique and evaluate advanced skill levels of baseball, including hitting/bunting for strategy purposes, fielding mechanics (flyballs in sun, warning track, diving to both sides), and throwing to the correct base according to interpretation of the situation. b. Comprise and interpret advanced offensive and defensive strategies. c. Comprise and instruct a structured practice routine including individual and team skill drills, both offensive and defensive. d. Develop a scouting report of individual strengths and weaknesses of opposing players. e. Demonstrate knowledge of the fundamentals of physical fitness as well as healthy lifestyle choices, analyzing their impact on an individuals life-long health and wellness. 5.
