Course Prerequisites None. Corequisite None. Recommended Preparation None. 3. Catalog Description This course is designed for students with advanced soccer skills. Instruction and practice in the advanced techniques and strategies of soccer. The course incorporates game experience in which to formulate an understanding by the student of different styles of play. Serves as the Non-traditional Season (NTS) preparation course for the intercollegiate team. 4. Course Objectives The student will: a. Demonstrate advanced techniques and strategies of soccer skills. b. Recognize, analyze and interpret game situations and strategies. c. Evaluate and compare opposition's strengths and weaknesses in offensive and defensive plays. d. Design and formulate game plans. e. Analyze and appraise individual skills and improvement. f. Define, recall and implement NCAA rules of soccer. g. Development and improvement of physical fitness parameters necessary to successfully participate in the sport of soccer. h. Analyze opponents offensive and defensive tactics and respond accordingly. 5. Instructional Facilities Access to the internet. Regulation NCAA soccer field. Standard classroom. 6. Drills, game situations and physical fitness-oriented activities. g. Analytic approach to opponents offense and defense. 8. Method of Instruction a. Classroom lecture, on-field lectures, and demonstration. b. Individual and group practice. c. Video analysis. 9. Methods of Evaluating Student Performance Observation of students fundamental soccer performance in game and practice situations. Daily charts and records of student performance and skills.
