The course will compare French-speaking European countries (such as France, Belgium, Switzerland, Luxemburg) to French-speaking countries of Northern Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, Canada and the Caribbean. The class is conducted in English. Course Objectives The student will: Review and locate the French-speaking countries of Europe, Northern Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, Canada and the Caribbean. Appraise the past and present French influence in Northern Africa, Sub Saharan Africa, Canada and the Caribbean. Compare and contrast the customs and beliefs of French-speaking European countries of France, Belgium, Switzerland, and Luxemburg. Compare and contrast the customs and beliefs of Northern Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, Canada and the Caribbean. Differentiate the major French literary and artistic movements in the French-speaking communities of Europe, Northern Africa, Sub-Saharan Africa, Canada and the Caribbean.
