Catalog Description This course is designed for mature students who are interested in improving existing skills or developing a higher degree of expertise in the performance of orchestral music. This is a no fee/no credit course. 4. Course Objectives The student will: a. Employ advanced techniques in rehearsal and performance of symphonic music. b. Prepare and perform passages from the symphonic literature. c. Employ various instrumental techniques to solve musical problems in pitch, tone, blend, dynamics, rhythm and phrasing. d. Compare and contrast musical interpretations of assigned symphonic works. 5. Instructional Facilities a. Large instrumental rehearsal room with piano and music stands. b. Stereo/video system. c.
