Addendum: Student Learning Outcomes Upon completion of this course, our students will be able to do the following: Demonstrate consistent practice (30 minutes/day) as evidenced by competent performance on exams. Answer questions pertaining to the music theory presented in class. This will include questions on note-reading, time value, chords, and dynamic markings. Play I-IV-V7 chords in either hand for the keys of C, F, and G major. Play a one-octave major scale with left and right hands simultaneously. Clap rhythms up to single eighth-note difficulty while counting aloud. Demonstrate basic music reading skills, which include playing hands-together, reading simultaneously bass and treble clefs, and applying rhythmic accuracy. Exhibit proper technique, fingerings, and hand coordination. Execute scales, chords, and arpeggios such as white key root (C-B) scales major and minor, hands together, and one octave. Harmonize simple melodies with I, IV, V7 chords. Transpose 5-finger position melodies and harmonies. Improvise within a key center.
