Recommended Preparation A "C" or "Pass" grade or higher in Music 001 or ability to read music. 3. Catalog Description A course designed to help the student learn to use the voice correctly. Principles of vocal placement, posture, balance, breath control and vocal tone emphasized through individual performances. 4. Course Objectives The student will: a. Analyze contrasting vocal tones. b. Demonstrate proper breathing, vocal techniques, posture and stage deportment. c. Solve musical problems in pitch, tone, dynamics, rhythm, articulation, phonation and resonance. d. Prepare selected vocal literature for musical performance. e. Compare and contrast musical interpretations of assigned vocal music. f. Evaluate individual student performances based on pedagogical concepts studied in class. 5. Instructional Facilities Large acoustically resonant classroom equipped with a piano, white board with music staves, stereo audio system, videotape player, overhead projector and computer with projection capabilities. 6. Development of correct breath control for singing. d. Differentiation of the different and varying tone qualities. e. Use of correct diction and articulation in singing. f.
