Catalog Description This course is designed for occupational therapy assistants and/or recent graduates of occupational therapy assistant programs who intend to sit for the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification examination. This course will include a review of kinesiology concepts and measurements, theories and frames of reference, the practice framework, code of ethics issues, clinical case studies and treatment interventions, modalities, splinting, management issues and practice areas. 4. Course Objectives The student will: a. Solve various occupational therapy intervention situations. b. Differentiate between correct occupational therapy treatments for specific diagnoses and incorrect treatments. c. Document occupational therapy treatment sessions accurately. d. Differentiate between theories, frames of reference and models common in occupational therapy and distinguish characteristics unique to each. e. Distinguish circumstances to introduce various adaptive devices, pieces of equipment and modalities. f. Evaluate ethical scenarios and relate proper handling of situations. g.
