Catalog Description Continues to focus and expand on intermediate level conversation development with more complex and varied vocabulary building and improvement of speaking proficiency in the context of Russian-speaking culture. Conversations are based on current and cultural events. 4. Course Objectives The student will: a. Show improved fluency and control of standard Russian and some regional Russian and convey meaning accurately most of the time in standard Russian. b. Participate in everyday conversations with ease. c. Comprehend non-technical speech in everyday spoken Russian and use idiomatic expressions and extensive vocabulary. d. Sustain more in-depth conversations with native speakers and comprehend authentic cultural material such as newspaper articles and short essays. e. Course Content a. Listening and speaking tasks organized around increasingly varied and complex situations dealing with opinions, feelings, agreement and disagreement. b. Cultural differences between the Russian speaking world and the students' own cultures. c. Grammar explanations as needed to reinforce the acquisition and oral production of the language. d. Increased development of students' writing skills to enable them to produce in writing what they can communicate orally. e.
