Catalog Description Community Service Learning Experience (CSLE) is a community outreach program, which promotes the national agenda of volunteer engagement. The purpose of this course is to provide the student an opportunity to practice and use the Spanish language in a community based site and to explore different career options. Course Objectives The student will: Develop oral proficiency in Spanish in a bilingual/bicultural community service learning site. Adhere to expectations and rules of community service learning site. Differentiate the appropriate responses to a world-of-work environment and to life managements demands. Recognize intrinsic value of work ethic. Examine and evaluate different career options in the discipline. Synthesize and apply necessary elements for making sound decisions. Demonstrate familiarity with site routines. Demonstrate sensitivity to the organizational culture of the community site. Progress through the levels of involvement. Follow directions. Work cooperatively. Initiate and implement activities. Analysis of organizational culture. Method of Instruction Student participation at community service learning placement site. Direction and guidance from the site supervisor. Conferences with the Community Service Learning Experience instructor. Methods of Evaluating Student Performance Site supervisor performance evaluation. Instructor performance evaluations.
