Corequisite None. Recommended Preparation None. Catalog Description Supervised participation in the area of production crew at an advanced level, for a major theatre arts production. Course Objectives The student will: Facilitate the advanced level running of a production through the set/management of props, lighting or sound control, or the management of costumes/makeup. Analyze and research the era and the background of the play. Compare and contrast the advanced technical phases of given production. Demonstrate specific advanced directions provided by the shows director/technical manager. Evaluate the interrelationship of the set design, costume design, lighting, and other technical aspects with the actor and technicians role of given production. Practical advanced usage of lighting and sound equipment, fly systems, props, costumes, application of makeup and how the combining of these aspects are used in a given production. Advanced production crew and how to organize and oversee the components of technical theatre in relation to the actor. The interrelationship of all advanced technical elements for a given production, while working with the director and theatre arts staff. Method of Instruction Instruction is completed by systematized rehearsals, arriving at a production ready for presentation to an audience. A postmortem session among all contributors is used to assess the relative successes and failures as reflected by the audience reactions. Methods of Evaluating Student Performance Participation during rehearsal and performance of production. Project performance (work methods, interaction with others, dedication, reliability, and competency). Ability to call a show.
