Corequisite None. Recommended Preparation None. Catalog Description Supervised participation in the intermediate technical/construction components of a Theatre Arts production. Course Objectives The student will: Analyze and research dramatic literature for a specific theatrical production. Interpret intermediate written and verbal instructions in order to facilitate a successful theatre production. Interact with other members of the production in a courteous, professional and safe manner. Responsibly and predictably fulfill intermediate assigned tasks associated with a theatre production. Experiment with intermediate techniques to facilitate construction of specific technical elements. Instructional Facilities Theatre space (Stagehouse Theatre, Lab Theatre). Computer lab. Theatre control booth. Scene/costume shops. Special Materials Required of Student Tools (adjustable wrench, utility knife, screwdrivers, tape measure). Materials (paper, pencils). Appropriate clothing as required for a specific position within the production. The intermediate production process. Rehearsal process. Technical rehearsal process. Intermediate construction of sets, props, costumes, and the applications of sound and lighting. Method of Instruction Drawings and individual verbal instructions will be given as to how certain tasks within the production will be accomplished. Attendance at rehearsals. Methods of Evaluating Student Performance Successful completion of assigned tasks according to deadlines in the area of technical theatre.
