Course Prerequisites A C grade or higher or Pass in Theatre Arts 136 or equivalent. Corequisite None. Recommended Preparation None. 3. Catalog Description The study and implementation of advanced makeup techniques used in theatre, television, and film. Techniques will include: casting prosthesis and air brushed makeup, as well as, using water based and pressed powder makeup. Emphasis will be placed on the creation of realistic and non-realistic character development and makeup design. 4. Course Objectives The student will: a. Define makeup terminology. b. Experiment with water base and pressed powder makeup and applications. c. Develop proficiency in makeup techniques including: prosthetics and air brush applications. d. Create realistic and non-realistic makeup designs for use in theatrical and film production. e. Analyze dramatic texts for character development and its relationship to makeup design. 5. Instructional Facilities a. Makeup room. b. Lighted work stations with mirrors. c. Ability to project slides, video and DVD and ability to project media. 6. Special Materials Required of Student a. Makeup kit. b. Makeup remover. c. Towel/tissues. d. Binder for makeup morgue. 7. Course Content a. Industry makeup terminology. b.
